With hit shows like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show dominating major categories at this year’s Emmys and Golden Globes ceremonies, Apple TV+ continues to bring compelling and relevant content to its subscribers. Up next, as first reported by Deadline, Forest Whitaker, Eiza González, and Tobey Maguire are the latest big names joining the already stacked ensemble for Apple’s latest project.
The series, titled Extrapolations, will reportedly be an anthology drama series focusing on climate change. Telling the stories of how climate change affects everyone, the series follows various characters living around the world. Extrapolations is the story of human strength and the planet’s survival told over the course of eight interconnected episodes. Apple TV+ will stream the series with production already well underway.
Marion Cotillard, Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Matthew Rhys, Daveed Diggs, Gemma Chan, and David Schwimmer have already been cast in the series. Furthermore, Contagion writer Scott Z. Burns created the series and will serve as its head writer, director, and showrunner.
The Academy Award-winning Forest Whitaker recently flexes his musical abilities in the critically adored film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and portrays Aretha Franklin’s father in the biopic Respect. Up next, the actor joins Tom Hardy in Gareth Evans’ Havoc and will appear in the Star Wars series Andor. Eiza González is a fast-rising star in her own right. Last appearing on the big screen in Godzilla vs. Kong, González next joins Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in Michael Bay’s Ambulance. Additionally, Tobey Maguire is returning to the big screen alongside Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon. Moreover, the actor is also is highly rumored to reprise his role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
