Idris Elba & Justice Smith To Star In Daveed Diggs’ ‘We All Die Young’

The Toronto International Film Festival is well underway with Full Circle’s very own Ileana Meléndez, Mark Tan, and Josie Meléndez right in the middle of all the action. One hot package being shopped around at the event will star Idris Elba and Justice Smith, as first reported by Deadline. Moreover, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star Taylour Paige will star in the film as well.

Billboard Music Award-winning rapper YG will executive produce the film alongside Daveed Diggs, record producer Benny Blanco, Wyck Godfrey (Twilight), Marty Bowen (Dear John), and Isaac Klausner (All Together Now).
Per the initial report, the movie’s plot focuses on a rapper named Marcus. Marcus finally gets his big break and is about to on a huge, worldwide tour. Unfortunately, he begins to feel the pressure and begins to go through a midlife crisis. However, Marcus is only in his early 20s, noting that several young Black men in the music industry have tragically passed away before the age of 30. In a statement, Diggs explains his inspiration behind writing the script and further details the struggles of the main character.

“The life he’s leading is at odds with everything he grew up living. There is a cognitive dissonance between where you grew up and where you find yourself. You start to wonder why and how you got to this place. It’s not unique to rappers, but when you talk to these young kids who are blowing up real fast, you start to recognize this is the dilemma they deal with: how to speak to the culture they come from, living the life they’re living.”
Idris Elba recently delivered an action-packed and heartfelt performance in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Up next, the multi-talented actor will appear alongside Jonathan Majors, Lakeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo, and Regina King in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall. Additionally, Elba will voice Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Meanwhile, Justice Smith touts memorable roles in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Detective Pikachu. The actor turns heads for his groundbreaking role in HBO Max’s Generation. Up next, Smith will star in Amazon’s The Voyeurs, opposite Sydney Sweeney.
