Morgan Freeman, Alfre Woodard, & Bill Burr To Star In ‘Hate to See You Go’

In his feature film directorial debut, Ben Tishler (Calzaghe/Jones 24/7) is enlisting a stellar group of actors. As first reported by Deadline, Morgan Freeman, Alfre Woodard, and Bill Burr are among those cast for the upcoming drama Hate To See You Go.

The film will be directed by Tishler with a script he co-wrote with Rob Stone. Moreover, the ensemble cast will also include Oscar and Grammy winner Common and Grown-ish star Trevor Jackson. Morgan Freeman will executive produce the project via his Revelations Entertainment banner. Lori McCreary (Invictus), Gary Lucchesi (Underworld: Awakening), Shelby Stone (Lackawanna Blues), and Jon Levin (Stargirl) are also on-board to produce.

Hate To See You Go tells the story of Sonny Bell, portrayed by Freeman. An aging Chicago Blues musician, Bell refuses to retire and settle down for the quiet life. He decides to hit the road with his longtime band for one last tour in a defiant attempt to continue doing what he loves. The film will take inspiration from Rob Stone’s real-life experience touring as a harmonica player with a plethora of American Blues artists.

Morgan Freeman is one of the most celebrated performers in cinematic history. Thanks to memorable roles in films like The Dark Knight, Driving Miss Daisy, and The Shawshank Redemption, Freeman is the recipient of an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Up next, he joins Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. Likewise, Alfre Woodard is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood history. Thanks to her work in films like 12 Years a Slave and Juanita, Woodard is a multi-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner. Next for the Luke Cage star is a role in The Gray Man along with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling. Bill Burr’s unique brand of stand-up comedy continuously keeps him in the spotlight. Recently, the actor impressed the masses as Migs Mayfeld in The Mandalorian.
