‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ Adds Helen Mirren In Villain Role

DC and Warner Bros. have tapped a major star to play the villain in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. According to The Wrap, Helen Mirren has been cast to play Hespera, the daughter of Atlas, in the film.
Mirren joins newcomer Rachel Zegler who will reportedly play her sister. The duo will serve as the film’s antagonists opposite Zachary Levi’s Shazam, the superpowered adult form of Billy Batson played by Asher Angel.

According to the report, Mirren’s character Hespera is described as the daughter of Atlas. While there is no direct character like this in the comics, there is a version of the ancient Greek god Atlas in the comics created by Jack Kirby in 1975.
David F. Sandberg is returning to direct the sequel with a screenplay penned by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. Moreover, Geoff Johns will produce the feature alongside Peter Safran (Aquaman).
