Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool 3’ Hires The Molyneux Sisters To Write Sequel

Disney and Marvel Studios is finally putting one of their larger Fox properties to work. According to Deadline, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin have been tapped to write the long-anticipated Deadpool 3.
Ryan Reynolds is officially set to reprise his role as the wise-cracking Merc with a Mouth. In fact, the star has even had a hand in choosing the Molyneux sisters to pen the film. Deadline confirmed that Reynolds met with a handful of writers to hear their pitches for the new installment over the past month. Ultimately, he and the studio settled on the sisters to handle Deadpool 3. The project is still in very early development; however, this announcement is the first indication in a long time that a sequel was still on the table.

This will be the first Deadpool film made under Marvel Studios, so this is most likely why they are taking their time with the project. It is expected that a new director will be brought on to helm the feature. Deadline states that David Leitch could return, but given he was not involved in the writer search, this is unlikely.
It should also excite fans to learn that the film is expected to be rated R just like the previous installments. Both Kevin Feige and Bob Iger have said they are open to R-rated Marvel films in the past, but it is exciting to have further confirmation.
The Molyneux sisters served as creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the new Fox series The Great North. They are also best known for their work on the long-running hit series Bob’s Burgers on Fox, for which they won an Emmy in 2017.
