Thursday afternoon, the first images from the set of Marvel’s Ms. Marvel series revealed a look at Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. Now additional photos feature her suiting up in costume.
Created by G. Willow Wilson, Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie, the character debuted in 2013’s Captain Marvel #14. Khan, a Pakistani American from New Jersey, comes across powers that allow her to have the ability to stretch her body and change her shape. She is also the first Muslim superhero to star in her own titular comic book series. In the comics, Khan is an Inhuman, a race of altered humans experimented on by the Kree.
It appears like the character is wearing her own version of the Captain Marvel suit worn by Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers. This makes sense given Kamala Khan is a fan of the heroine and has modeled her hero persona off of her. This is obviously not the final costume the young heroine will wear but instead a homemade prototype for the time being.

It seems likely this scene could occur soon after she gains her powers, which is why the suit looks a bit rough. Some fans have also theorized that this is a Halloween costume the character has repurposed for heroic missions.
Hailing from head writer Bisha K. Ali the series will introduce Kamala Khan to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ms. Marvel is one of many series Marvel Studios is developing for Disney+ to introduce new characters into the MCU, with the other shows being She-Hulk and Moon Knight. Following their Disney+ debuts, the characters will reportedly move into films and appear alongside other heroes. WandaVision is set to become the first Marvel series to debut on the streaming service when it releases in 2021.
