Jamie Foxx’s Mike Tyson Biopic To Become Limited TV Series From Antoine Fuqua & Martin Scorsese

In 2014, reports that Ray star Jamie Foxx would star in and produce a Mike Tyson biopic surfaced. Since then, the film has gone through different stages of development with the legendary Martin Scorsese once attached to develop and direct. Now, following 7 years of waiting, the long-awaited project is finally moving forward. However, as first reported by Deadline, the biopic will become a limited TV series with Jamie Foxx still attached to star as the legendary heavyweight.
Moreover, the aforementioned Martin Scorsese will executive produce the series, titled Tyson, with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua at the helm. Jamie Foxx will also serve as an executive producer besides the man himself, Mike Tyson. Screenwriter Colin Preston penned the show’s pilot and is on-board to write the entire series. In a statement, Tyson expresses his excitement to finally tell his story his way.
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” said Tyson. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”

Recently, Foxx made waves on social media platforms when he openly discussed the incredible opening the Mike Tyson biopic would have. Moreover, the multifaceted performer periodically goes viral for his various impressions, including a picture-perfect Mike Tyson voice.
Recently, Foxx turned in an award-worthy performance alongside Michael B. Jordan in Just Mercy. Additionally, the Ray star will play the titular role in Todd McFarlane’s upcoming Spawn reboot. Up next, the actor will reprise his role as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Mike Tyson is considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. Recently, he returned to the ring in an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. The boxer last appeared in an altercation with pro wrestler Chris Jericho during an episode of All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite.
