Jamie Foxx Will Return As Electro In ‘Spider-Man 3’

In a shocking turn of events, Jamie Foxx will be returning to the Marvel universe. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx will be reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, supervillain Electro in Sony’s currently-untitled third installment in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man franchise.
Jamie Foxx is reportedly in talks to return as the villainous Electro in Sony’s upcoming third Spider-Man film. The reintroduction is being compared to J.K. Simmons’ role in Spider-Man: Far From Home as the MCU’s J. Jonah Jameson. When contacted for confirmation on the casting, Marvel had no comment.
The actor’s return is surprising as he played the same character in the previous Spidey series led by Andrew Garfield. The events of the 2014 film saw Foxx’s Max Dillon come to blows with Garfield’s Spider-Man. The film was a critical failure that prompted Sony to team-up with Marvel Studios for the webhead’s reintroduction with Tom Holland in the role.

The film will see Jon Watts return as the director. Additionally, the aforementioned Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man as well. Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori are also expected to return in their respective roles.
Last year, Foxx turned in an award-worthy performance alongside Michael B. Jordan in Just Mercy. Additionally, the Ray star will play the titular antihero role in Todd McFarlane’s upcoming Spawn reboot. Up next, the actor will voice the main character in Pixar’s latest film Soul. Furthermore, Foxx’s upcoming Mike Tyson biopic is actively in development as well.
