Screen Actors Guild Awards 2021: The Complete Nominations List

Just 24 hours removed from the controversial announcement of the complete list of Golden Globe nominations, the 27th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have announced their list as well. While this year’s big award ceremonies will look a bit different than in previous years, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the honors remain the same.
The 2021 SAG Awards ceremony will be simulcast on TNT and TBS on Sunday, April 4th. Additionally, it appears the SAG Awards are presenting a platform for a lot of the films and actors seemingly snubbed by the Golden Globes this year. The films leading the way in the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture are Da 5 Bloods, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Minari, One Night in Miami, and The Trial of the Chicago 7, which all tout diverse cast lead by performances from people of color.
In the television categories, universally beloved hits like The Crown, Ozark, and The Queen’s Gambit take center stage. Additionally, it appears the cast of Schitt’s Creek is on track to continue what they stared at the Emmys in September and take more trophies home following its final season and booming popularity on Netflix.
Finally, the late, great Chadwick Boseman picked up two posthumous nominations. With one for lead actor in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and one for supporting actor for Da 5 Bloods, Boseman continues to build upon his iconic film legacy.
