Adam Driver & Greta Gerwig To Star In Noah Baumbach’s Untitled Netflix Movie

Director Noah Baumbach is an acclaimed, Oscar-nominated filmmaker thanks to his work on films like The Squid and the Whale and Netflix’s Marriage Story. Back in September, DiscussingFilm revealed that Netflix will reunite with the director for a new, untitled feature film. Now, as first reported by What’s On Netflix, the still-untitled picture will benefit from the talent of its two leading actors, Adam Driver, and Greta Gerwig.
While details on the film are being kept close to the chest, it will reportedly be a family drama. It will feature four siblings, Fritz, Debbie, Megan, and Walker, as they each facing their own personal problems. It is safe to assume Driver and Gerwig will portray two of the siblings.
Baumbach will write and direct the highly anticipated picture. Per the initial reports, the aim is to begin production in February 2021 with a planned 2022 release on the streaming service. Moreover, the film will continue Netflix’s recent string of hits featuring big-name stars like Jamie Foxx, Gary Oldman, and George Clooney. Additionally, the streaming service is likely hoping to keep its stellar track record during awards season intact with the latest project as well.

Driver spent the last few years starring in a host of films. His roles in Netflix’s Marriage Story and Amazon’s The Report earned him praise and award consideration. Moreover, his reprisal of Kylo Ren in The Rise of Skywalker helped steer the Star Wars film towards its $1.074 billion worldwide gross. Driver’s upcoming slate projects will also include a starring role in Leos Carax’s musical film Annette alongside The Dark Knight Rises star Marion Cotillard.
Furthermore, Greta Gerwig is no stranger to the Academy Awards ceremonies in her own right. As the director of Lady Bird and Little Women, the filmmaker touts a total of three nominations. As an actress, Gerwig’s filmography includes appearances alongside Natalie Portman in Jackie and Adam Sandler in The Meyerowitz Stories. Gerwig will next collaborate with Baumbach in co-writing a live-action Barbie film, starring Margot Robbie.
