Ben Affleck To Star In George Clooney’s ‘The Tender Bar’ Adaptation For Amazon Studios

Ben Affleck remains one of the most successful and dependable performers of the modern era. With a highly anticipated reprisal of his Batman role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and The Flash on the horizon, the actor continues to add to his award-winning career. According to Deadline, Affleck is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming feature in the works at Amazon, The Tender Bar.
Affleck’s fellow Batman alum George Clooney will direct the upcoming adaptation of the 2005 book. Per the initial report, the two Hollywood powerhouses have been seeking an opportunity to collaborate and Affleck was at the top of Clooney’s list to lead the film’s cast. Additionally, Clooney will produce the picture alongside Grant Heslov (Argo) with a script penned by William Monahan (The Departed). The Tender Bar will be financed and distributed by Amazon Studios. Written by J.R. Moehringer and published in 2005, the book was one of the 100 Most Notable Books of the year. Moreover, the memoir tells the story of growing up in Long Island and seeking out father figures among the inhabitants of his uncle’s bar.

Recently, Affleck turned in one of the most powerful performances of his career in The Way Back. So much so, that Warner Bros is reportedly looking to campaign him for Best Actor consideration at next year’s Oscars. Up next, Affleck will portray King Charles VI in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.
Amazon Studios’ upcoming slate of projects continues their work to find footing in the great streaming wars. The platform is also actively developing a series based on the Fallout video game franchise and a continuation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
