‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Series In The Works At Amazon

Amazon Prime continues to release a laundry list of original content that is well-received by both fans and critics alike. As first reported by Deadline, the streaming service is developing a new series based on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Millenium crime novels penned by Steig Larsson.

Per the initial report, the series will focus on the Lisbeth Salander character previously portrayed by Noomi Rapace in the 2009 Swedish film of the same name. Furthermore, Rooney Mara delivered a memorable interpretation of the character in the 2011 English version of the film alongside Daniel Craig. Directed by David Fincher, the film earned $232.6 million worldwide and won the Acadamy Award for Best Film Editing. Claire Foy went on to play the role in the 2018 sequel The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

Amazon promises a new take on the classic story that will resonate with a new, younger audience. Amazon Studios and Left Bank Pictures produce the series, in association with Sony Pictures TV. Left Bank CEO Andy Harries will serve executive producer. At this time, no actors, screenwriters, or directors are attached to the upcoming project.
