Ben Affleck To Return As Batman For Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’

Ben Affleck will be returning to the DCEU. After two appearances as the Dark Knight in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, he will be making what may be his last appearance as the character in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash.
According to Vanity Fair, the 48-year-old actor will be returning to the big screen in The Flash. Director Andy Muschietti revealed that Affleck’s Bruce Wayne will be a big part of the Flash’s story:
“He’s the baseline. He’s part of that unaltered state before we jump into Barry’s adventure. There’s a familiarity there. He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

Affleck’s Batman made a strong connection with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in 2018’s Justice League, meaning his role could be a substantial one. He will be the second Batman to appear in The Flash, joining Michael Keaton, who previously donned the bat cape back in 1989. The Flash director also revealed what Affleck brought to the table as the Dark Knight:
“His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong which is his masculinity because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline, but he’s also very vulnerable. He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”
