Margot Robbie In Talks To Replace Emma Stone In Damien Chazelle’s ‘Babylon’

Damien Chazelle is the youngest person in history to earn the Academy Award for Best Director. His next project, titled Babylon, is by-far one of the most anticipated upcoming movies in recent memory. However, many moviegoers were looking forward to seeing the filmmaker reunite with his La La Land star Emma Stone for the feature. Unfortunately, as first reported by Deadline, Stone will now be dropping out of the film due to a developing scheduling conflict.
However, per the initial report, The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is in early negotiations to replace Stone in Babylon. If she signs on for the project, the movie will reunite Robbie with her Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood costar Brad Pitt. The studio behind the film, Paramount Pictures, is hoping the major development will now offset the movie’s production or Christmas season 2021 release date.

Babylon will be an R-rated period piece set against the backdrop of a dramatic shifting moment in Hollywood history. The film will track the turning point in which major motion pictures transitioned from silent films into “talkies”. Previously, rumors that Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan, and Tobey Maguire were being eyed for starring roles in the film hit the internet. However, the aforementioned Maguire will produce the feature alongside Marc Platt (La La Land), Olivia Hamilton (First Man), and Matt Plouffe (The 5th Wave). Damien Chazelle will direct the film after writing the screenplay himself.
Up next, Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Additionally, the actress will lead Disney’s female-centric Pirates of the Caribbean reboot as well. She will also star alongside John David Washington and Christian Bale in a yet-to-be-titled drama from celebrated director David O. Russell.
