‘Star Wars’: Lucasfilm Reportedly Developing Film About The First Jedi

With the Skywalker Saga now concluded, it seems Disney and Lucasfilm will explore new eras in the Star Wars universe. For instance, Daniel Richtman reports a film about the first Jedi is in early development.
Details on the film are scarce, given the project is still in early development. However, Richtman revealed that he heard the first Jedi will be female. The origins of the Jedi have yet to be explored outside of the Legends canon, so this would provide Disney with a brand new era of storytelling.

If this particular project comes to fruition, it joins a litany of Star Wars projects in the works. Over the last few months, rumors that characters like Mace Windu, Darth Maul, and Lando Calrissian will appear in live-action shows surfaced. Additionally, Disney+ is actively developing an animated series based on The Bad Batch with an animated sequel to Star Wars: Rebels in the works as well. Up next, the studio will place its Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor series in production.
