RUMOR: Mace Windu Solo Project With Samuel L. Jackson In The Works At Lucasfilm

If the last 12 months have told Star Wars fans anything, its that the future of the franchise lies in the Disney+ streaming service. Following the success The Mandalorian, LucasFilm has fast-tracked the development of a bevy of new projects featuring the likes of Lando Calrissian, Ahsoka Tano, and Darth Maul. Next, according to insider Daniel Richtman, the studio is developing a new project featuring the Jedi Master Mace Windu.
Per Richtman’s initial scoop, the upcoming project will primarily focus on a younger version of the character than fans are used to. However, cinematic icon Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to reprise the role he made famous. That being said, a new, younger actor will come aboard to do a bulk of the story’s heavy lifting as the character’s origins are explored.

Jackson first appeared as Mace Windu in The Phantom Menace. The revered Jedi Master was a member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. Windu, at one time, was the elected leader of the Jedi during the Clone Wars. His belief in the Jedi way of life, stoicism, and trademark purple lightsaber have endeared him to Star Wars fans for 20 years. While he was portrayed by Jackson in the live-action prequel films, the character is voiced by Terrence C. Carson in The Clone Wars animated series. Recently, Jackson reprised the role via a quick voice cameo in during the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
Up next for the Star Wars universe is season two of The Mandalorian. Additionally, new films and TV shows from filmmakers like Taika Waititi and Leslye Headland are in various stages of development as well. Moreover, Samuel L. Jackson last appeared on the big screen in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Apple TV’s The Banker. Up next, the Academy Award-nominated actor will star in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard alongside Ryan Reynolds and Martin Campbell’s The Asset.
