Following months of uncertainty, many film and TV productions around the world have resumed filming. One of those projects is director Doug Liman’s heist dramedy titled Lockdown. As first reported by Deadline, actors Ben Stiller and Lily James will join already-confirmed stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the upcoming picture.
James and Stiller will join the incredible ensemble featuring Stephen Merchant, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon, and Mark Gatiss. The Steven Knight-scripted film will be directed by Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith). The plot reportedly follows a young couple, played by Hathaway and Ejiofor, during the worldwide COVID-19 lockdown. Despite glaring differences, the couple will attempt to pull off a high-risk jewelry heist at one of the most exclusive department stores in the world, Harrods. The movie will actually shoot on-location at the glamourous outlet in London.
AGC Studios will finance and produce the film. Moreover, P.J. van Sandwijk (Citizen K), Stuart Ford (Dredd), Alison Winter (Gravity) serve as the film’s executive producers.
Up next for Anne Hathaway is a starring role in the upcoming Sesame Street movie alongside Chance the Rapper. The actress will also star in Bum’s Rush with comedic legend Bill Murray. Meanwhile, Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to reprise his magical role of Baron Mordo in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. Ejiofor will also star with Mark Wahlberg and Dylan O’Brien in Antoine Fuqua’s Infinite.
Ben Stiller has taken more work as a movie producer recently with his latest offerings Dinner in America and Friendsgiving. Furthermore, the multitalented Lily James continues to breakthrough following her show-stealing turns in Downton Abbey and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Up next, the actress will star in Phillip Noyce’s true-crime drama, Peggy Jo, and Amazon’s My Policeman with singer Harry Styles.
