Lily James Set For True-Crime Drama ‘Peggy Jo’ Directed By Phillip Noyce

Following her work in critically acclaimed projects like Baby Driver and Downton Abbey, Lily James is a proven commodity. Up next, as first reported by THR, the actress has snagged a starring role in the upcoming true-crime picture from HanWay Films titled Peggy Jo.
The film will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Phillip Noyce. The Australian director has helmed over 19 feature films including Salt and The Giver. Additionally, Peggy Jo will feature a script written by Robert Knott (Coneheads).
The story will center on the true events of a bank robber named Peggy Jo. Inspired by her infatuation with Western crime stories, she decides to go on a string of robberies under the guise of her infamous alter-ego Cowboy Bob. Her story gained nationwide coverage as she was pursued by the FBI. The story is extremely unique to other bank robbery stories as Peggy Jo did not enlist a getaway driver and vowed to never carry a weapon. Soon, the falls in love and chooses to take control of her own narrative and go down in a blaze of glory. However, Peggy Jo was ultimately killed by police in 2005 at the age of 60 following a low-speed chase.
