Miles Teller To Star In Russell Wilson & Ciara’s ‘Not Without Hope’

Last year, Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ciara launched their own production company called Why Not You Productions. Their goal was to produced digital content focusing on inspirational and aspirational stories across a variety of genres. As first reported by THR, the couple will executive produce a survival film based on true events titled Not Without Hope, with Whiplash star Miles Teller attached to star.
Based on the book of the same name Nick Schuyler and Jeré Longman, Not Without Hope describes a 2009 boating accident in which Schuyler was the sole survivor. Along with his best friend Will Bleakley and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, Schuyler embarked on a day trip to a fishing spot 70 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. However, the adventure turned to tragedy after a severe storm caused a trapped anchor. The result was all four being thrust into the freezing water unable to be rescued due to the severity of the storm. Bleakley, Cooper, and Smith ultimately passed before Schuyler was rescued after 46 hours in the water.

The film will be a joint venture between Prix Productions, Lucidity Entertainment, Lime Tree Productions, and Adore Creative. Director Rupert Wainwright (The Fog) will helm the film with a script from E. Nicholas Mariani (The Man In The Black Suit).
Miles Teller will star in the film as Nick Schuyler. Previously, Dwayne Johnson was attached to the role. Up next for Teller is a starring role in Top Gun: Maverick and The Ark and the Aardvark.
