It looks like Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness may very well introduce Americ Chavez to the MCU. Murphy’s Multiverse recently found an audition tape online that seems to be for the character.
Debuting within the pages of Marvel Comics in 2011, Chavez AKA Miss America is the first Latin-American LGBTQ character to star in an ongoing series. She often appears alongside the Young Avengers, The Ultimates, and the West Coast Avengers. Her abilities include superhuman strength, speed, durability, flight, and inter-reality transportation. Moreover, the character is voiced by The Fosters star Cierra Ramirez in Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.
Back in January, a report claimed a casting call for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness was looking for a teenage Hispanic female to be supporting lead in the film. There weren’t many characters that fit the given description and so it was concluded that it was most likely for America Chavez. Some argued that the casting could be for the character could be for Zelma Stanton, but the audition tape, which can be found below, would suggest otherwise.
In the video, the young actress explains that her character is from another world and goes on to explain the concept of the multiverse. Additionally, she mentions that some kind of demon was chasing her through our world, which would explain how she came into contact with Doctor Strange since demon’s ar in his corner of the MCU.
Work on Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is still in the very early stage, but it is exciting to see they may be close to casting. So as work on the project continues, stay tuned for any updates on the highly anticipated sequel.
