Sydney Sweeney, Halsey, & Paul Walter Hauser To Star In ‘National Anthem’
Four-time Billboard Music Award winner Halsey has spent the last several years wowing global audiences with her unique brand of charisma and incomparable singing voice. However, the singer will take another big step forward in her career as she looks to crossover to acting. As first reported by Deadline, Halsey, real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, will star alongside Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney and Paul Walter Hauser in a film titled National Anthem.
The absolutely stacked cast also includes Red Rocket standout Simon Rex and Dickinson star Toby Huss. Additionally, Gavin Maddox Bergman (American Hustle), Harriet Sansom Harris (Phantom Thread), and newcomer Derek Hinkey appear on the cast call sheet as well. Screenwriter Tony Tost is at the helm in his directorial debut. Page Fifty-Four Pictures and Bron Studios will collaborate to finance and produce the film.
The film’s plot charts a group of folks as they hunt for a rare Lakota Native American Ghost Shirt. While some seek the prize for fortune, others seek to return the item to its natural home. However, the hunt takes a turn and everyone on the journey must adapt in order to survive. In a statement, Tost touts his excitement to bring the story to life.
“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to bring National Anthem to life on film, and to work with Page Fifty-Four Pictures, Bron Studios and this incredible cast,” says Tost. “I’m especially thrilled to be bringing to the screen a vision of modern rural America that pays tribute to the myths of the West while also radically reinventing them.”
Halsey has sold over one million albums and has been streamed over six billion times in the United States. Her hits like “Bad At Love” and “Without Me” earned her a bevy of accolades and Grammy nominations. Additionally, the singer recently lent her voice talents to the animated film Sing 2. Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney stars alongside Zendaya in HBO’s hit series Euphoria. Up next, Sweeney joins Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse star Shameik Moore in a new crime drama titled Silver Star. Finally, Paul Walter Hauser is a stand-out in every film he’s in. Recently, the Richard Jewell star shined in Cruella and will next appear alongside Marisa Tomei in Delia’s Gone.
