Jake Gyllenhaal & Vanessa Kirby To Star In Survival Thriller ‘Suddenly’

By far one of the most dependable performers in Hollywood today, Jake Gyllenhaal continues to expand his résumé. Following a universally beloved turn as the villainous Mysterio in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, the BAFTA Award winner sets his sights on his next project. As first reported by Deadline, Gyllenhaal will join Hobbs & Shaw star Vanessa Kirby for a new film titled Suddenly.
Written and directed by Thomas Bidegain (A Prophet), Studiocanal will present the project at the upcoming Cannes Market. Based on Isabelle Autissier’s French-language novel Soudain Seuls, the film follows a couple who find themselves stranded on a South Atlantic island. As they begin to fight for survival, the duo is forced to navigate the dynamics of their relationship.

Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories production banner will produce the feature in collaboration with Tresor Films. Moreover, Riva Marker (The Guilty) and Alain Attal (Whatever You Say) are on board as executive producers as well.
Up next, the Nightcrawler star is set to appear alongside Oscar Isaac in Barry Levinson’s Francis And The Godfather biopic. Additionally, Gyllenhaal’s extremely busy schedule will re-team him with director Antoine Fuqua for Netflix’s The Guilty. Meanwhile, Vanessa Kirby recently earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Pieces of a Woman. Next, Kirby will reprise her role as White Widow in the next two Mission Impossible films.
