John Boyega & Robert De Niro To Star In Netflix’s ‘The Formula’

It feels like every other week, Star Wars fans take to social media and praise the work of John Boyega as Finn in the sequel series. However, the actor continues to make it clear his days in a galaxy far, far away are behind him. Instead, the multitalented performer spent 2020 turning heads with powerful performances in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology film series. Up next, Boyega will continue a working relationship with Netflix. As first reported by Deadline, Boyega will star alongside cinematic icon Robert De Niro in a new film in the works at the streamer.

The movie, titled The Formula hails from Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands), who will write, direct, and produce via his  Buppie Productions banner. Moreover, De Niro will serve as the film’s executive producer as well along with Jane Rosenthal (The Irishman) and  Berry Welsh (All We Had). Additionally, Jason Michael Berman (The Birth of a Nation) and Sam Shaw (Castle Rock) will produce as well.

The Formula will reportedly follow a Formula One racing prodigy who is forced to become a getaway driver to save his family. While further details are scarce at this time, it is safe to assume Boyega will portray the driver while De Niro will appear as the man holding the fate of his family over his head.

John Boyega will next star alongside Olivia Cooke in Naked Singularity. Additionally, the Star Wars actor will team with Netflix for another project alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris titled They Cloned Tyrone. The in-demand actor will also star alongside fellow Star Wars alum Felicity Jones in the Guard Brothers’ Borderland. Robert De Niro is one of the greatest actors of all time. Recently, the Oscar winner earned critical acclaim for his role in Martin Scorcese’s The Irishman. Moreover, De Niro also recently starred in the comedy The War With Grandpa. Up next, the actor will star in the ensemble of David O. Russell‘s latest film.
