Millie Bobby Brown To Star In The Russo Brothers’ ‘The Electric State’ Adaptation

Following the crowning achievement of Avengers: Endgame becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are reteaming with their screenwriters Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. As first reported by Deadline, the creative quartet will next focus on a sci-fi thriller with Millie Bobby Brown in the starring role.
The film, titled The Electric State, was recently acquired by Universal Pictures following a heated bidding war. The Russo Brothers will direct the feature as well as produce via their AGBO banner. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely will pen the screenplay as an adaptation of the graphic novel with the same name. Moreover, Mike Larocca (21 Bridges) is on-board as executive producer as well.
Written by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State follows a runaway teenager (Brown) and her yellow robot. As they travel west through the stranger version of the USA, they encounter the ruins of gigantic battle drones. As they attempt to find the teenager’s missing brother, they ultimately uncover a sprawling, grand conspiracy.

This is also a positive sign that, as vaccines are available, the theatrical market is returning.”
