Dwayne Johnson To Star In New Untitled ‘Fast & Furious’ Movie

When Fast X hit theaters a few weeks ago, fans around the world were stunned to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprise his role from the franchise during the credits scene. Now, as first reported by Deadline, Johnson has signed on to star in a brand new Fast & Furious film for Universal Pictures.
Per the initial report, the new feature will not serve as a sequel to 2019’s spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Instead, the film will be a continuation of the credits sequence from Fast X, where Johnson’s Luke Hobbs is confronted by Jason Momoa’s Dante, and bridge the gap between that movie and Fast X: Part Two.

The film is based on a screenplay by longtime Fast & Furious Family member Chris Morgan. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will serve as executive producers via their Seven Bucks Productions alongside Vin Diesel and Jeff Kirschenbaum.
The Rock’s return to the Fast franchise is a surprising move given the years of tension reported on set between him and a bevy of co-stars. However, The Rock’s drawing ability cannot be denied. Most recently, the ten-time WWE Champion starred alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in Netflix’s Red Notice and attempted to change the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe with Black Adam. Up next, Johnson will star opposite Chris Evans and J. K. Simmons in the upcoming Christmas movie Red One.
