Zazie Beetz & Tom Hardy To Star In Apple TV’s ‘Lazarus’ Series

Apple TV arguably has one of the most beloved lineups of original content since making its debut just a few short years ago. Now, joining the ranks of hit shows like Severance, Central Park, and Ted Lasso is a new series in early development titled Lazarus. As first reported by Deadline, Zazie Beetz and Tom Hardy are already attached to star in the upcoming project.
Per the initial report, Norwegian filmmaker Øystein Karlsen (Exit) will write, executive produce, and direct the series. The project is a co-production between A+E Studios and Range Studios and will be distributed by Apple TV+.
Based on the Joona Linna book series by Lars Kepler, which is the pseudonym for authors Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, Lazarus follows an emaciated young man after he is found wandering aimlessly along a train track. Turns out, he and his sister went missing thirteen years ago and were presumed to be murdered by a serial killer named Jurek Walter (Hardy). In an attempt to find the young man’s missing sister, detective Saga Bauer (Beetz) goes undercover in a maximum security psychiatric hospital where Walter is being held.

The multitalented Zazie Beetz is one of the biggest breakout stars of the last decade. Since her Emmy-nominated role in Donald Glover’s Atlanta, Beetz has since appeared in hit films like Deadpool 2, Joker, and Bullet Train. Up next, Beetz is expected to reprise her DC role in the upcoming sequel Joker: Folie à Deux. Meanwhile, Tom Hardy is a bona fide household name thanks to his roles in films like Black Hawk Down, The Dark Knight Rises, and both Venom films. Up next, Hardy joins film legends Forest Whitaker and Timothy Olyphant in Gareth Evans’ upcoming thriller Havoc.
