Zazie Beetz In Talks To Return For ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

The highly anticipated sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker is officially on the way. With Joaquin Pheonix already on board to reprise his role of Arthur Fleck in the film, it appears another familiar face is joining him. As first reported by Deadline, Zazie Beetz is in talks to return for the highly anticipated sequel as well.
Beetz and Pheonix will be joined by Grammy Award winner Lady Gaga, who is rumored to portray Harley Quinn in the feature. In the first film, Beetz portrays Arthur Fleck’s neighbor Sophie. Sophie is a single mom struggling in Gotham City with whom Fleck imagines a relationship.

The highly anticipated project, titled Joker: Folie à deux, hails from writer and director Todd Phillips. Additionally, per the initial report, the sequel is actively being developed as a musical, which will suit both popstar Lady Gaga and Zazie Beetz, who can be heard singing in the 2021 Netflix film The Harder They Fall.
Zazie Beetz continuously turned heads with her remarkable performances throughout season three of the hit FX series Atlanta. Up next, Beetz will appear alongside Donald Glover, LaKeith Stanfield, and Brian Tyree Henry in the fourth and final season of the series. Most recently, Beetz starred alongside Bad Bunny and Brad Bitt in David Leitch’s Bullet Train. Up next, Beetz will appear in Jennifer Gerber’s Shelter.
