Giancarlo Esposito, Ke Huy Quan, & Anthony Mackie Join Netflix’s ‘The Electric State’

Recently, The Russo Brothers released their latest film The Gray Man via Netflix. The action-thriller was met with mixed reviews from the critics with many praising the performances of the cast featuring Ryan Gosling, Ana De Armas, and Chris Evans. With that in mind, the filmmaker duo is enlisting another rather impressive ensemble for their next film as well. As first reported by Variety, Giancarlo Esposito, Ke Huy Quan, Anthony Mackie, and Billy Bob Thornton are the latest names added to the cast list for The Electric State.
The four A-listers join the already stacked last lead by Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown. Notably, Michelle Yeoh, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, and Jenny Slate will appear in the film as well. The Russo Brothers will direct the feature as well as produce via their AGBO banner. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely will pen the screenplay as an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name. Moreover, Mike Larocca (21 Bridges) is on board as an executive producer as well.

Written by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State follows a runaway teenager (Brown) and her yellow robot. As they travel west through the stranger version of the USA, they encounter the ruins of gigantic battle drones. As they attempt to find the teenager’s missing brother, they ultimately uncover a sprawling, grand conspiracy.
Anthony Mackie is fresh off a stellar run as the new Captain America in Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Additionally, the actor will the role in the fourth Captain America movie for Marvel Studios. Moreover, the actor will star alongside David Harbour and Tig Notaro will star in a new family adventure for Netflix titled We Have A Ghost. Ke Huy Quan returned to the big screen in grand fashion as Waymond Wang in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once this year, a role for which he received critical acclaim. Up next, Quan will join the MCU in season two of Loki. Meanwhile, Giancarlo Esposito is one of the busiest men in Hollywood with recurring roles in hit TV shows like The Boys and The Mandalorian. Up next, the actor is set to lead the cast of a new drama series in the works at Netflix titled Jigsaw.
