WWE Star Becky Lynch To Portray Cyndi Lauper In NBC’s ‘Young Rock’

One of NBC’s biggest hits in recent years is Dwayne Johnson‘s semi-biographical comedy series Young Rock. Telling the story of Johnson’s life and upbringing from three distinct perspectives has allowed fans to not only get a better understanding of the man also known as The Rock but also of the professional wrestling business as a whole. Now, as first reported by PWInsider, WWE Superstar Becky Lynch is joining the series for its upcoming third season in a pretty exciting role.
Per the initial report, Lynch, real name Rebecca Quin, will debut in the third season premiere as musical legend Cyndi Lauper. While Lauper has sold over 50 million records worldwide and touts countless Grammys, Emmys, Tonys, and American Music Awards, Lauper was also instrumental in the boom of professional wrestling in the 1980s. Alongside icons like Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, Lauper helped launch the WWE into mainstream pop culture through the Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Connection.

Young Rock follows Johnson as he runs as a candidate in the 2032 United States presidential election. Each episode involves Johnson participating in an interview with Randall Park which leads him to flashback to a story from one of three periods of Johnson’s life per episode. Lynch will join Johnson, Park, Rosario Dawson, Uli Latukefu, Stacey Leilua, and Joseph Lee Anderson in the cast.
Becky Lynch is one of the most well-known WWE Superstars in the world today. Breaking into the mainstream as “The Man” in 2018, Lynch went on to become the first woman to win the main event of WrestleMania in 2019, winning both the Raw Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship. Since then, Lynch lent her voice talents to the Paramount+ animated feature Rumble and appeared as herself in the acclaimed Showtime series Billions.
