Chris Evans Joins Dwayne Johnson In Jake Kasdan’s ‘Red One’

Two of the biggest stars in the world will team up for an all-new holiday film in the works at Amazon Studios. As first reported by Deadline, Chris Evans will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Amazon’s Red One, directed by Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Jake Kasdan
Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia will also produce on behalf of their Seven Bucks Productions. Moreover, the film’s story stems from an original idea conceived by Hiram Garcia. Jake Kasdan will direct and produce with Hobbs and Shaw scribe Chris Morgan penning the screenplay. New Girl producer Melvin Mar is also executive producing.

The holiday film, titled Red One, is described as a “globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy.” The creative team reportedly hopes to reimagine the holiday genre and build a franchise that incorporates multiple films as well as other services Amazon provides. Finally, the picture will begin production in 2022 with a 2023 holiday release.
Evans played Steve Rogers AKA Captain America in a total of 9 Marvel films over the course of 9 years. Following a standout role in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, the actor will next appear as dentist Orin Scrivello in The Little Shop of Horrors remake. That film will see Evans reunite with his fellow Avenger Scarlett Johanson. Additionally, Evans will lead the cast in Scott Derrickson’s thriller, Bermuda, in addition to starring as Gene Kelly in an upcoming untitled biopic produced by Rian Johnson.
