Sequel To Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out’ In Development At Lionsgate

Audiences will once again see Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc solve a mystery. Rian Johnson’s 2019 smash hit Knives Out is officially getting a sequel, Lionsgate announced.
During a third-quarter earnings calls, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said that a sequel to Knives Out is officially a go, hinting that production could start up soon. This comes off many reports that Johnson is also open to returning to the world he created for his whodunnit.
Johnson had this to say about his movie the day Academy Awards nominations were announced:
“I had such a good time making it, such a great time working with Daniel, and now just seeing that audiences are responding to it, the idea of continuing it on seems like it would just be a blast. But there’s a lot that has to happen before that can happen, first and foremost being writing a script. So, we’ll see.”

Knives Out made waves last fall upon both critically and financially. The movie was hailed as a well-structured, contemporary take on the genre while audiences found it charming and refreshing. Along with Craig, the film had an all-star cast, including Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer and Michael Shannon.
