Netflix’s recent big-budget release, Red Notice, is reportedly breaking all kinds of records for the streaming service. Featuring an ensemble cast with some of the biggest stars in the world, Netflix is looking to build a franchise around the film. As first reported by Deadline, Netflix is giving the green light to at least two more Red Notice follow-up films.
Per the initial report, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds are expected to reprise their roles from the original movie. Additionally, writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber is already working on the movies’ scripts and will likely return to the director’s chair as well. Furthermore, the studio is attempting to put together a back-to-back production schedule with cameras rolling in early 2023.
Despite the overwhelming success of Red Notice, many critics give the feature less than positive reviews. However, Full Circle’s own Katie Rentschler gives the film an 8/10, saying “Red Notice is one of those action films that will be fun to turn on when you’re looking for an action film. There are relationships, there’s art, there’s drama, different locations, and it all works within the context of the movie. There’s set up for more, and I’m actually really hoping we do get more films.”
Up next for the ever-busy Dwayne Johnson is his upcoming DCEU film Black Adam. Additionally, the former 6-time WWE Champion will lead the voice cast for DC League of Super-Pets as well. Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds recently starred in the hit 2021 film Free Guy. Next, the Deadpool star joins Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer in Apple TV’s retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Gal Gadot’s upcoming slate of films includes the highly anticipated third Wonder Woman film. She will also appear on the silver screen alongside Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler in Disney’s live-action Snow White.
