Gal Gadot is one of the biggest names in Hollywood thanks to her turn as Wonder Woman in the DCEU. However, the actress continuously looks to expand her filmography with films outside of the superhero realm as well. As first reported by Deadline, Gadot is circling a Disney role as the Evil Queen in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White.
Gadot joins West Side Story star Rachel Zegler, who will portray the titular character. The Amazing Spider-Man 2′s Marc Webb is at the helm for the feature. Moreover, Dear Evan Hansen producer Marc Platt is on board to produce the feature with production beginning early 2022. In a statement, Webb touts the decision to cast Zegler in the role.
Originally premiering in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first Disney animated feature film. The famous story follows the titular princess living with her stepmother, a vain Queen. Jealous of Snow White’s beauty, the wicked Queen orders the murder of her innocent stepdaughter. However, the queen discovers that Snow White is still alive and hiding in a cottage with seven friendly dwarves.
Gadot most recently starred in DC’s Wonder Woman 1984, which premiered in theaters and on HBO Max, simultaneously. Up next, Gadot joins Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Red Notice, one of Netflix’s most expensive projects to date. The actress will also portray the ruler of the Kingdom of Egypt, Cleopatra, in a biopic directed by Patty Jenkins, as well as reprising her role as Wonder Woman in a third solo DCEU film.
