‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’: Daniel Dae Kim To Play Fire Lord Ozai

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender has found its villain. According to Deadline, actor Daniel Dae Kim has been tapped to play Fire Lord Ozai.
Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. Set in a world where individuals have the ability to control the elements, the series followed Aang, a young boy with the ability to control all four elements, as he and his friends Katara, Sokka, and Toph set out to stop the Fire Nation and save the world.

Fire Lord Ozai, the ruler of the Fire Nation, demands all those around him live up to his standards, including his own son Prince Zuko. The character’s main drive is to conquer the world, making him the series’s main antagonist.
Kim joins the rest of the cast, which includes Dallas Liu, Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, and Ian Ousley, who will play Zuko, Aang, Katara, and Sokka, respectively. The star will take over the role from Mark Hamill, who voiced Ozai in the original animated series.
Albert Kim serves as showrunner and will executive produce as well as write for the series. Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore will also executive produce, along with Michael Goi. Goi, Roseanne Liang, Jabbar Raisani, and Jet Wilkinson are set to serve as directors on the show. Original creators DiMartino and Konietzko were once a part of production but have since parted ways with the project over creative differences.
