The Rock will soon be adding “Bulldog” to his resumé. Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson has been added to the cast of the upcoming Tom & Jerry as Spike the Bulldog, sources confirm to Full Circle Cinema.
As first reported by Gamer Rewind, the actor will be lending his voice to the live-action/animated hybrid character. The extent of Jonhson’s role Tom & Jerry is still undetermined at this time, but one can expect him to give Tom a rough go of it. It’s still unclear if Spike’s adorable son, Tyke, will be featured in the movie.
First appearing in 1942, Spike is typically depicted as a foil to Tom. The Bulldog is portrayed as a protective father to Tyke and will make sure his son is safe from that mischievous cat. He’s also teamed up with Tom and Jerry on occasion, usually when Animal Control becomes involved in the animal’s antics.

Tom & Jerry will see the titular cat and mouse team-up with Chloë Grace Moretz’s “Kayla” inside a swank hotel. Here’s a quick synopsis from Collider:
“Kayla is a new employee at a posh hotel where Jerry takes up residence, threatening to ruin a glamorous wedding. She hires a broke alley cat named Tom to come in and get rid of Jerry, which proves to be easier said than done. That may be for the best, as the duo will likely need each other to defeat Kayla’s villainous boss (Michael Peña), who isn’t a big fan of either one.”
