While embroiled in an unsettling legal battle with Disney over profits of Marvel’s Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson is already setting her sights on a new project. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is the latest big-name star to join the ensemble cast of Wes Anderson’s upcoming untitled movie.
Johansson joins other recent Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks. Additionally, the cast already includes Anderson’s favorites Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, and Tilda Swinton. Additionally, previous rumors point to Jeff Goldblum and Michael Cera circling starring roles in the film as well. At this time, plot details are being kept under wraps. However, the film is reportedly a romance story and will be live-action as opposed to stop-motion like other notable Anderson films.
Wes Anderson will write, direct, and produce the currently untitled movie for Searchlight Pictures. Additionally, Steven M Rales (Isle of Dogs) and Jeremy Dawson (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) are on-board to produce as well. Filming begins on-location in Spain later this month.
Johansson is one of the most well-known actresses in the world today. Following a tragic turn for her character in Avengers: Endgame, she shines in Netflix’s A Marriage Story. Up next, besides the recent release of Black Widow, Johansson will reprise her rockstar role of Ash in the animated musical film Sing 2. Moreover, she sill next lead the cast for A24’s Bride Of Frankenstein reimagining directed by Sebastián Lelio.
