Phillipa Soo & Simu Liu To Star In ‘One True Love’ Feature Adaptation

Months before he is set to lead the cast of Marvel‘s first Asain-American-led superhero flick, Shang Chi, Simu Liu is already lining up his next role. As first reported by Deadline, the actor will join Hamilton star, Phillipa Soo, in the cast of the feature adaptation of the novel One True Love.

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, the story is a touching love tale. Following a woman who is lost her husband years before, her life is suddenly thrust upside down when he mysteriously reemerges. She must now choose between him and her current fiancé, who has finally helped her find love and happiness again.

Joining Soo and Liu in the cast is Hacksaw Ridge star, Luke Bracey. Moreover, Race To Witch Mountain helmer Andy Fickman is on board to direct the feature. The aforementioned Taylor Jenkins will adapt the screenplay alongside Alex Jenkins Reid her husband Alex Jenkins Reid. Moreover, Betsy Sullenger (Who’s Your Daddy), Michael Jefferson (Zone 414), and Adam Beasley (The Garden Left Behind) will produce with CAA Media Finance handling North American distribution.

Phillipa Soo is a Tony Award-winning actress best known for her starring role in Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Hamilton. Additionally, the multihyphenate recently lent her voice to Netflix’s Oscar-nominated animated film Over The Moon. Next, Soo joins Michael Keaton and Rosario Dawson in Hulu’s Dopesick. Meanwhile, Simu Liu is currently gearing up for the release of his MCU movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Additionally, Liu will appear in Simon Cellan Jones’s upcoming film Arthur The King.
