Jonathan Majors In Talks To Join Michael B. Jordan In ‘Creed 3’

The Creed franchise will continue to follow in the footsteps of its Rocky predecessor. Just as Sylvester Stallone inhabited the director’s chair for a bevy of Rocky films alongside a tenured starring role, Michael B. Jordan will next take the helm of the highly anticipated third installment of the Creed series. However, a few months ago, it was revealed that Sylvester Stallone would not be returning to reprise his famous role. Instead, as first reported by Deadline, Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors is in final negotiations to join the film’s cast.
Per the initial report, the deal has not yet been completed. Additionally, details on who Majors would be playing are scarce at this time. However, many took to social media to speculate he could be playing the son of Mr. T’s James “Clubber” Lang from Rocky III.

Creed, originally directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) and its subsequent sequel Creed II has grossed a combined $387 million at the worldwide box office. Additionally, they serve as the latest additions to the wildly popular Rocky film series. The series stars Michael B. Jordan as the son of legendary boxer Apollo Creed as he looks to continue his father’s legacy alongside his trainer Rocky Balboa. MGM Studios will enlist the talents of up-and-coming filmmaker Zach Baylin (King Richard) to pen the script for Creed 3. Moreover, IMDb currently lists Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad as returning cast members as well.
Jonathan Majors is on the brink of becoming one of the most accomplished actors in the coming years. Following jaw-dropping performances in Netflix’s Da 5 Bloods and HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Majors will next play the iconic Marvel supervillain Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The versatile performer will also appear alongside Joe Jonas in Sony’s Korean War drama Devotion.
