Alison Brie & Aubrey Plaza To Star In Limelight’s Indie Comedy ‘Spin Me Round’

Two veterans of the comedy realm are teaming up for a new feature film set in a quiet Italian village. As first reported by Deadline, Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza will topline a new film titled Spin Me Round from Limelight Pictures.

The two versatile actresses are joined by Alessandro Nivola, Molly Shannon, and Lil Rel Howery in the ensemble as well. Rounding out the cast are Fred Armisen, Debby Ryan, and Ego Nwodim in supporting roles. Alison Brie co-wrote the script alongside Jeff Baena, who is on board to direct the film. This marks the second collaboration between Baena and Brie who last co-wrote and produced Horse Girl together. The film will be produced by Duplass Brothers Productions in collaboration with Limelight Pictures, who is handling full financing and distribution. Production begins in June in Italy.

Spin Me Round follows a manager of the Italian chain restaurant Tuscan Grove in Bakersfield, California named Amber, portrayed by Brie. After winning an all-expenses-paid trip to Florence, Italy, she gets the chance to meet the charismatic owner of the restaurant chain, portrayed by Alessandro Nivola. Expecting a grand romantic fantasy, Amber finds a far different experience alongside a ragtag group of fellow American franchise managers.

Alison Brie is coming off a wildly successful run on the Emmy nominated Netflix series GLOW. Additionally, the actress recently had memorable appearances in Promising Young Woman and Happiest Season as well. The multitalented actress also frequently writes, produces, and directs projects like Horse Girl, Marvel’s 616, and The Rental as well. Meanwhile, Aubrey Plaza has turned heads as the villain in FX’s Marvel series Legion. In addition to her role in Happiest Season, Plaza also last appeared on the big screen in the 2019 Chucky reboot Child’s PlayUp next, the versatile performer joins Jason Statham in a new thriller from The Gentlemen director Guy Ritchie.
