Jason Statham To Star In Film Adaptation Of Warren Ellis’ ‘Gravel’

Fans of Warren Ellis will be excited to learn a new film based on his work is currently in development. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Jason Statham is set to star in a film adaptation of Ellis’ series Gravel.
Published by Avatar Press from 1999 to the present, Gravel is written by Ellis with illustrations by Mike Wolfer.
Statham will play the lead of the film, William Gravel, a soldier in the British S.A.S. who uses his skills in dark magic to moonlight and battle supernatural beings for clients in order to make some extra cash.

The film is being planned by Legendary Pictures with Ellis himself writing the script. In 2012 it was announced that Deadpool‘s Tim Miller would be directing the film, but it remains to be seen if that is still the case.
Currently, the film has no official start date or planned release as it remains in early development. Given they have started casting, it seems likely fans should expect further updates about the film’s status soon. For fans of Ellis’ work, it is very exciting to hear he will be penning the script for the film.
