Natasha Lyonne To Star In Rian Johnson’s Mystery Series ‘Poker Face’

Critically acclaimed director Rian Johnson continues to add to his absolutely stacked résumé. For the first time in his career, the filmmaker is creating a project designed for television via a partnership with the Peacock streaming service. As first reported by Deadline, Johnson is developing a new mystery series and has tapped the multihyphenate, Natasha Lyonne, as his leading lady.
Per the initial report, the series, titled Poker Face, received a 10-episode straight-to-series order from NBCUniversal’s Peacock streamer. Johnson is the creator of Poker Face and will serve as its head writer and director as well. While details on the series remain scarce at this time, Johnson reveals his excitement to get to work on it in a statement accompanying the announcement.
“I’m very excited to dig into the type of fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching. It’s my happy place,” Johnson said. “Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream, and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.”

Rian Johnson will also executive produce the series alongside his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman via their T Street production banner. Additionally, Natasha Lyonne will star in the series as well as serve on its team of executive producers. Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens (American Son), and T Street President of Television Nena Rodrigue will produce as well.
Natasha Lyonne stars in the hit Netflix series Orange Is the New Black for which she received a number of Emmy nominations. Additionally, the actress stars in, writes, and directs her own hit Netflix series titled Russian Doll. The talented performer touts film appearances in Shia LaBeouf’s autobiographical film Honey Boy and the American Pie franchise. Meanwhile, Rian Johnson is one of the most prolific and discussed directors of his generation. Following the success of his Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, Johnson went on to write and direct the Oscar-nominated film Knives Out. Up next, the filmmaker is developing an untitled sequel to Knives Out.
