Jesse Plemons Joins The Cast Of Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’

Fresh off a role being heralded on social media in Judas and the Black Messiah, Jesse Plemons is continuing to bolster his underrated, yet highly impressive résumé. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Plemons is set to join Robert De Niro in a starring role in Oscar winner Martin Scorsese’s next film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
Plemons is reportedly stepping into the role once inhabited by Leonardo DiCaprio. While DiCaprio will no longer serve as Scorsese’s leading man, he remains cast in the film in a supporting role. Per the initial report, Plemons had to turn down a role in Jordan Peele‘s upcoming secret project to land the Scorcese role.
The film will be a live-action adaptation of Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. Written by David Grann, the 2017 novel tells the true story of the Osage Nation murders in the early 1920s. Plemons will portray Tom White, the lead FBI agent investigating the murders. Additionally, First Cow star Lily Gladstone will portray the wife of Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio), who is the nephew of a powerful local rancher. Finally, De Niro will be playing the powerful and affluent rancher.

The adaptation’s screenplay hails A Star is Born and Forrest Gump scribe Eric Roth. Moreover, DiCaprio will produce the feature with Scorsese directing. Dan Friedkin (The Mule) and Bradley Thomas (Hall Pass) are on board to executive produce as well. Apple Studios will handle financing and distribution via the Apple TV+ streaming service. The film is a part of Scorsese’s overall first-look deal with Apple.
Jesse Plemons’ career has taken him from TV to movies and back again. Best known for roles in Breaking Bad and Friday Night Lights, the actor is also known for haunting turns in films like Game Night. Up next, Plemons will star alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in Disney’s Jungle Cruise. He will also join Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst in Netflix’s The Power of the Dog.
