Friday afternoon, Glover announced via his Instagram story that the two are teaming up for a Mr. & Mrs. Smith series for Amazon Prime Video.
The upcoming series will mark the second time the two share a screen together. The 2018 Star Wars film Solo shows they have indelible chemistry as Lando Calrissian and the droid L3-37. Additionally, the initial announcement notes that Fargo writer Francesca Sloane is the co-creator of the series alongside Glover and Waller-Bridge. Additionally, New Regency will produce the series in collaboration with Amazon Studios.
Directed by Doug Liman and written by Simon Kinberg, 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The film follows a bored upper middle class married couple surprised to learn that they are assassins belonging to competing agencies and that they have been assigned to kill each other. The movie grossed $487 million worldwide.
