Sandra Bullock Joins The Ensemble For Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’

Just when it appears the already stacked cast of David Leitch’s upcoming film Bullet Train couldn’t get more impressive, new casting information surfaces. As first reported by Deadline, Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock is the latest big-name star to join the film’s ensemble, led by Brad Pitt. Surprisingly, this casting marks the first time Bullock and Pitt will appear in a film together.
Bullock joins other big recent additions, Lady Gaga, Michael Shannon, and Zazie Beetz. This role will be Gaga’s first big action role so fans will likely be eager to see what she can do within that genre. The Golden Globe Award winner will also join Logan Lerman, Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, and Andrew Koji. David Leitch will direct the feature with Sony Pictures handling finances and distribution.
Based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka, Bullet Train will focus on a battle within the mafia and features a bevy of snipers at odds with each other on a moving train. Moreover, the celebrated Japanese novel will reportedly be published in English next year. Sony acquired the rights to the novel earlier this year and fast-tracked its production following the signing of Brad Pitt.

The screenplay hails from Lights Out producer Zak Olkewicz. Additionally, Leitch will oversee the development of the script as well. Kotaro Isaka’s management team of Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada are on-board to produce. Kelly McCormick (Poms), Antoine Fuqua, and Kat Samick (The Equalizer) will serve as executive producers.
Sandra Bullock is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood today. She is the recipient of several awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Most recently, the actress starred in Netflix’s hit film Bird Box and the Ocean’s 11 spinoff, Ocean’s 8. Up next, the talented performer will star in an untitled drama directed by Nora Fingscheidt and written by Christopher McQuarrie.
