Will Smith To Star In David Leitch’s Action-Thriller ‘Fast & Loose’

David Leitch seems to be one of the busiest filmmakers in Hollywood right now. With production for his upcoming Brad Pitt and Laday Gaga-starring thriller Bullet Train nearing its start date, the director is already lining up his next projects. In addition to an untitled stuntman drama with Ryan Gosling, Leitch will team with another A-lister. As first reported by Collider, Leitch will team-up with Will Smith for a new action-thriller titled Fast & Loose.
Written by The Meg screenwriters, Jon and Erich Hoeber, the film follows Will Smith’s character suffering from amnesia. After waking up in Tijuana, Mexico with no memory, he realizes he has been attacked, beaten, and left for dead. However, the story takes a twist after he discovers his true identity or more appropriately, identities. He has been living two lives for the last several years. One life where is a rich and successful crime kingpin and another as a poor and single CIA agent. However, he can’t decipher which life is real and which he would prefer to live.

The project has been in development at STXFilms since April 2020. However, the film’s financing and distribution are still being shopped around to a variety of studios and streaming platforms. Leitch and Smith will executive produce the film in addition to their other duties. Additionally, James Lassiter (I Am Legend), Jon Mone (Dolittle), and Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde) are on-board to produce as well.
The last calendar month has been quite busy for Will Smith. The actor recently had a starring role in 2019’s live-action Aladdin and Spies in Disguise alongside Tom Holland as well as 2020’s Bad Boys for Life. The star has also bolstered his social media presence with programming on Facebook Watch and Snapchat. Moreover, Smith recently returned to his hip hop roots with a remix to Joyner Lucas’ tribute track “Will”. Up next, Smith will star in a Planes, Trains, & Automobiles remake with Kevin Hart and lead the cast for Antoine Fuqua’s runaway slave thriller Emancipation.
