Star Wars is hoping to bring a major star back into its world. During Thursday’s Disney Investor Day event, it was revealed that Justin Simien, the creator of Dear White People, is developing a spinoff of Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian.
The world of Star Wars continues to grow in new and exciting ways. During Thursday afternoon’s Disney Investor Day event, it was revealed that a Lando Calrissian focusing on the titular character is in development and will premiere exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service.
While Solo: A Star Wars Story received mixed reviews from fans, Glover’s Lando was praised by many. Therefore, it makes sense Disney would want him to return given his past performance and his genuine star power. Not much is known about the show outside of the creator behind the show and the legendary character it’s based on.
Lando joins a litany of Star Wars projects in the works. Over the last few months, rumors that characters like Mace Windu, Darth Maul, and Lando Calrissian will appear in live-action shows surfaced. Additionally, Disney+ is actively developing an animated series based on The Bad Batch with an animated sequel to Star Wars: Rebels in the works as well. Up next, the studio will place its Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor series in production.
