Eiza González & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Join Jake Gyllenhaal In Michael Bay’s ‘Ambulance’

Recently, Universal Pictures secured a deal with Endeavor content to produce a new action-thriller from Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay. The package, titled Ambulance, touts the incomparable Jake Gyllenhaal in the starring role. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the cast will also receive quite the boost with the additions of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Eiza González.
The feature will be based on the original Danish Film Ambulancen produced by Nordisk Film Productions. With an adapted screenplay by Chris Fedak (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Bay will direct the film and serve as an executive producer as well. Additionally, James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man), Bradley Fischer (Suspiria), and Will Sherak (The Avengers) will produce the adaptation as well.
While details on the movie are under wraps at this time, sources close to the project say it will feature elements from Bay’s previous hits like Bad Boys. The original feature hails from Laurits Munch-Petersen. It follows a bank robbery involving a veteran home from a tour in Afghanistan. Alongside his brother, the robbery is botched and they have no choice but to take hostages and hijack an ambulance. As tensions continue to escalate, the relationship is tested as they find ways to get along and survive the impossible situation.

Up next, Gyllenhaal will appear on-stage at London’s Savoy Theatre in Sunday in the Park with George. He will also star in another HBO series titled Lake Success and Netflix’s The Division alongside Jessica Chastain. Additionally, the Nightcrawler star is set to appear alongside Oscar Isaac in Barry Levinson’s Francis And The Godfather biopic. Finally, the actor’s upcoming slate of projects will re-team him with director Antoine Fuqua for Netflix’s The Guilty.
Moreover, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II continues to impress whenever given the opportunity. Following scene-stealing roles as Black Manta in Aquaman and Doctor Manhattan in HBO’s Watchmen, the actor will next lead the cast for Nia DaCosta’s Candyman. Additionally, The Trial of the Chicago 7 star will appear alongside Keanu Reeves in The Matrix 4 and Anya Taylor-Joy in Furiosa.
Eiza González is a fast-rising star in her own right. Last appearing on the big screen in Alita: Battle Angel and Hobbs & Shaw, the actress continues to impress. Up next, the Bloodshot star will appear in the highly anticipated Godzilla vs. Kong and the American-British comedy Love Spreads.
