Jennifer Lopez & Armie Hammer To Star in Lionsgate’s Action-Comedy ‘Shotgun Wedding’

After more than 30 years in show business, Jennifer Lopez is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. After a universally celebrated role in 2019’s Hustlers, Lopez continues to bolster her already stellar filmography. Up next, as first revealed by Deadline, J-Lo will star alongside Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer in a new action-comedy from Lionsgate.
Shotgun Wedding will hail from Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore. The screenplay is written by Mark Hammer (Meet the Parents) and New Girl creator Liz Meriwether. Its plot follows Darcy and Tom, played by Lopez and Hammer. As they gather their eccentric families together for their destination wedding, they both begin to get some cold feet. However, just as they begin to contemplate their future together, the entire party is taken hostage by terrorists.
Lionsgate will produce and distribute the feature film. Additionally, Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman (Wonder) are on-board to produce the picture via their Mandeville banner. Moreover, Lopez will serve as the film’s executive producer along with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, Benny Medina (Hustlers), Alex Young (The A-Team), and George Dewey (Free Guy). James Myers and Scott O’Brien are overseeing the production for Lionsgate with production beginning early next year. In a statement accompanying the official announcement, Lionstage’s President of Production Erin Westerman touts the film’s high expectations.

“Jennifer and Armie’s irresistible magnetism, separately and together, make them the perfect pairing for this action-comedy,” said Westerman. “They are both incredibly funny actors that can also deliver on the action, but what sets this movie apart is the way their infectious chemistry commands the screen. You can’t take your eyes off them.”
Lopez will next appear with Owen Wilson in Universal’s upcoming comedy Marry Me from She-Hulk director Kat Coiro. Additionally, the multitalented performer made headlines after co-headlining the Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Shakira. Armie Hammer will next join the star-studded ensemble of Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile. Hammer will also star in Taika Waititi‘s Next Goal Wins with Michael Fasbender and Elizabeth Moss. Previous reports also have Hammer returning for the sequel to Call Me By Your Name.
