Elisabeth Moss To Star In Blumhouse’s Adaptation Of Congresswoman Katie Hill’s Memoir

Perhaps one of the most discussed new films of 2020 is Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man. As one of the few films allowed to release theatrically before the global pandemic, the film is a career-high mark for everyone involved according to Full Circle’s Lead Critic James Preston Poole. The film’s star, Elisabeth Moss, will once again team with Blumhouse Productions for a new project. As first reported by Variety, Moss will star as Congresswoman Katie Hill in a new film based on Hill’s acclaimed memoir.
Katie Hill is s an American former politician and a former social services administrator from Agua Dulce, California. She served as the U.S. Representative for California’s 25th congressional district from January to November 2019. However, her foray into American politics was highly unlikely. With no prior political experience, Hill used her charm and common sense to win over her constituents. The film will borrow inspiration from Hill’s 2020 memoir titled She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality. Moreover, outside of her political strides, Hill silently suffered from a cycle of domestic abuse which led to an affair, the awful leak of personal photos, and her resignation from her well-earned position.
Moss will star as Hill in the project. Additionally, Moss will serve as the film’s executive producer alongside Katie Hill herself. Code Black creator Michael Seitzman will pen the screenplay along with Blumhouse‘s Jason Blum and Jason Gold.

In a statement accompanying the initial report, Hill expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to tell her own story.
“I wrote She Will Rise to try to take back my story from those who have exploited and twisted it. I also wanted to shine a light on the stories of women who givee me strength when I needed it most. And hopefully to provide inspiration to others. Also, having this larger platform to tell this story, working with the talented team at Blumhouse and Michael, and the incredible Elisabeth Moss as the lead, is more than I ever could have imagined — I am so grateful for the opportunity and look forward to collaborating on this project.”
Elisabeth Moss won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in BBC’s Top of the Lake. Moreover, the versatile actress earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu‘s The Handmaid’s Tale. Up next, Moss will appear in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Taika Waititi‘s Next Goal Wins.
