Selena Gomez Joins Steve Martin & Martin Short In Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building’

Steve Martin and Martin Short are two of the biggest names in the American comedy lexicon. Together, the duo has appeared alongside the other on Saturday Night Live as well as their own Netflix comedy special. Up next, the two comedians will star in a new Hulu series titled Only Murders In The Building. As first reported by Deadline, multi-platinum selling recording artist Selena Gomez will join the series in a co-starring role.
The upcoming series is penned by John Hoffman and Steve Martin. Additionally, Gomez, Short, and Martin will serve as executive producers along with This Is Us creators Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. The plot will reportedly follow three strangers obsessed with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in their own drama. Hulu has already given the project a straight-to-series order.

Hulu’s head of original content Craig Erwich expressed his excitement in the upcoming show in a statement Friday morning.
“I heard the pitch on Wednesday, and it was the best hour I had all week. It’s really special, surprisingly emotional. It’s really modern and self-referential about podcasts and murders, it’s got some great surprises. When they pull this off, it’s going to be really special.”
The new role will mark Gomez’s long-awaited return to TV. Since rising to fame on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, she began focusing on music full time. The successful singer has sold over 7 million albums and 22 million singles worldwide. Additionally, the “Same Old Love” singer’s on-screen roles include voice roles in all three Hotel Transylvania films as well as Robert Downey Jr.’s Dolittle. Up next, Gomez will host her own cooking show on HBO Max titled Selena + Chef.
